What information do I need to provide prior to my consultation?
You will need basic information such as your loan type (federal or private). If you have federal loans, we will walk you through how you can access your federal student loan information that will be needed for the consultation.
What is Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), and who is eligible?
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program forgives a borrower’s remaining balance on Direct Loans after making 120 qualifying monthly payments while working full time for a qualifying employer.
To be eligible for PSLF, you must:
- be employed full time by a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization (federal service includes U.S. military service)
- have Direct Loans (or consolidate other federal student loans into a Direct Loan)
- repay your loans under an income-driven repayment plan
- make 120 qualifying payments (does not have to be consecutive)
What is Income-Driven Repayment (IDR)?
Income-driven repayment is a federal student loan repayment program that sets your monthly student loan payment at an amount that is intended to be affordable based on your income and family size.
