Match Day is a momentous occasion in the lives of medical students and aspiring doctors around the world. This eagerly anticipated event marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. The significance of Match Day lies in the revelation of where medical graduates will complete their residency training, setting the stage for their future careers in medicine.
When is Match Day 2025?
This year, Match Day falls on Friday, March 21. At 12 p.m. ET, applicant Match results will be available by email and within the R3 system.
When is Match Week 2025?
Match Week 2024 begins on Monday, March 17. At 10 a.m. ET, applicants will learn if they matched by email and the R3 system. After learning whether they matched, unmatched applicants will be able to begin the SOAP process.
What other dates should I know?
Here’s the full list of Residency Match Application Dates:
Pre-Match Week
- Sept. 16, 12 p.m. ET – Registration opens
- Match Registration opens and you can create your R3 account.
- Jan. 31, 11:59 p.m. ET – Standard Registration deadline
- Applicant Standard Registration Deadline for the Match and SOAP. (There is a $50 additional fee for late registration after January 31.)
- Feb. 3, 12 p.m. ET – Ranking opens
- Build and edit your Rank Order List in R3.
- March 5, 9 p.m. ET – Late registration and rank order list certification deadline
Match Week
- March 17, 10 a.m. ET – Match status available and SOAP begins
- SOAP-eligible unmatched and partially matched applicants can access the List of Unfilled Programs in the R3 system.
- March 17, 11 a.m. ET – SOAP applications open
- SOAP applicants are able to start preparing applications in the AAMC ERAS system.
- March 18, 9 a.m. ET – Programs begin reviewing SOAP applications & interviews begin
- Programs may begin reviewing SOAP applications and may contact applicants upon receipt of an application and begin interviewing.
- March 20, 9-11 a.m. ET – SOAP Round 1
- At 9 a.m., applicants receive Round 1 offers in the R3 system.
- Applicants must accept or reject offers by 11 a.m.
- March 20, 12-2 p.m. ET – SOAP Round 2
- At 12 p.m., applicants receive Round 2 offers in the R3 system.
- Applicants must accept or reject offers by 2 p.m.
- March 20, 3-5 p.m. ET – SOAP Round 3
- At 3 p.m., applicants receive Round 3 offers in the R3 system.
- Applicants must accept or reject offers by 5 p.m.
- March 20, 6-8 p.m. ET – SOAP Round 4
- At 6 p.m., applicants receive Round 4 offers in the R3 system.
- Applicants must accept or reject offers by 8 p.m.
- March 20, 9 p.m. ET – SOAP ends
- Applicants may begin contacting unfilled programs from the List of Unfilled Programs in the R3 system.
- March 21, 12 p.m. ET – Match Day!
- Applicant Match results are available via email and the R3 system.
